7D6N TAIPEI TRIP - DAY 4

DAY 4 of our Taipei Trip 15-21 June 2013.

Its the 4th days of our 7 days trip to Taipei,
halfway through and so far we are having great fun.

We begin our day with breakfast at a shop at this small alley beside our hotel.

After our breakfast, we started our itinerary to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall.
Took the MRT from Ximending station directly to Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall station, only 2 stops away.

National Theater

Liberty Square Gate

We were lucky to witness a parade at the Liberty Square, i reckon there are some important politicians around which is why there's a parade to send them off.

watched the parade for a good 15 min before the soldiers march off in unison.

Its really hot today when we are there, so hot that we used the umbrella we bought at Wufenpu to shelter us from the sun.

Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall
This majestic memorial hall was erected in memory of Mr Chiang Kai Shek, former president of Republic of China. It stands at the end of Memorial Hall square with the National Theater and National Concert Hall on both sides.

After climbing up the flight of stairs to the hall, we saw a huge Bronze Statue of Mr Chiang Kai Shek.
There are guards on both sides guarding the hall, they change guards every hour with a brief Change of Guards Parade.
We stayed to watch the Guard changing Parade before moving off to Taipei 101.

From Chiang Kai Shek Memorial to get to Taipei 101.
We took the MRT from Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall station back to Ximending, before changing the blue line to Taipei City Hall MRT.

When we alight from Taipei Cityhall, we exit and hop on a bus at the bus stop outside the Shopping Centre which brings us straight to Taipei 101.

Got our Taipei 101 observatory ticket at 450NT per person, usual price 500NT but we get a 10% discount by showing our Youth Card.

Queuing to enter the Observatory to take the bullet lift up.

The lift from the 5th floor up to the observatory deck moves at bullet speed!

Collected our virtual tour guide and off we go to the different viewing areas.

Views of Taipei.

At Taipei 101, can also buy postcards to mail back.

Spent around 1 hour plus there before making our way down.

Went for lunch after our morning sightseeings at the Food court inside the shopping centre beside Taipei Cityhall MRT.

And desserts of cos after lunch! at Cold Stone Creamery.

Went to Mangga area after walking ard the shopping centre at Cityhall.
There's actually 2 night market beside 龙山寺, the Huaxi Night Market & Guangzhou St night market.
Like the name, its night market, so when we went in the afternoon, there's nothing there at all except countless old people playing chess at the open area above the MRT station and lots of fortune teller.

Decided to go back to Ximending instead since there's nothing for us to do at LongShan Temple at this time and its only one stop away from Ximen station. like that can go back to our hotel for a short rest before going out for dinner.

Having some drinks at the hotel bar located at the first floor outside the shopping centre.

Dinner tonight is at '' highly-recommended-by-frens '' 马辣火锅, went over yesterday night intending to eat this for dinner, but was told the only available slot is at 3am as its fully reserved already, so we made a reservation for tonight's dinner at 6pm on the spot.

马辣火锅果然名不虚传。
At only around 500NT per person and a 2 hour time frame, you can have countless servings of Angus Beef, Fresh prawn & fish paste and many others cuts of beef, i dunno cos i don't eat. only Angry Smurf eats. and many other food variety for you to choose off the shelf. They have 4 different soup base to choose from, but eat 麻辣火锅当然要叫麻辣汤底啦。

AND THEY HAVE HAAGEN DAZS & MOVENPICK ICE CREAM FOR DESSERT....

MUST TRY but must remember to make reservation earlier.

Angry Smurf sadly waiting for the soup to boil and his beef to come.

so with 2 hours time to eat, we fully made use of the 2 hours!!! BURP!!!

After dinner, again we just roam ard Ximending, shop a bit before we make our way back to the hotel.
